My Favorite Chinese Festival

The Tradition and Excitement of Mid-Autumn Festival

Mid-Autumn Festival, also known as the Moon Festival, is my favorite Chinese festival. It is celebrated on the 15th day of the eighth lunar month, which usually falls in September or October. This festival has a long history and is an important cultural event in China.

The Tradition: The Mid-Autumn Festival has been celebrated in China for over 1,000 years. It is a time for families to gather and enjoy the full moon, eat mooncakes, and drink tea. Mooncakes are a traditional food for the festival. They are round, with a filling of lotus seed paste and a salted egg yolk in the center, symbolizing the full moon.

The Excitement: One of the most exciting parts of the Mid-Autumn Festival is the dragon and lion dances. People parade through the streets, carrying a large dragon or lion held up by a long pole. The dancers move in a way that makes the dragon or lion appear to be alive. Fireworks are also set off during the festival, adding to the excitement and festivity of the event.

In conclusion, the Mid-Autumn Festival is a unique and special event in Chinese culture. It is a time for families to come together, eat delicious food, and celebrate the beauty of the full moon. The tradition and excitement of the festival make it my favorite Chinese festival.
